Nice to meet you! I'm Dr. Rebecca Nicholson

I am an expert in conflict – at all the complex levels it originates, exists, and affects us – mental, emotional, spiritual, bodily. I show you how to go beyond containing and controlling conflict, to leveraging its power to drive personal, relational, and team growth.

I am the author and editor of three books on conflict resolution:

  • Natural Healing as Conflict Resolution

  • Executive Sexism

  • How Donors Experience Conflict in the Grantmaking Process

I also host the ‘The Conflict Doctor’ podcast.

I have a Ph.D in Conflict Analysis & Resolution. My work has been featured in The Miami Herald, Invictus Magazine, and Valka-Mir Human Security training material for US Military Special Operations Forces.

What I Do: I coach people (individuals, couples, friends & teams) who are being held back by conflict.

Conflict exists at mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual levels. I help you identify and understand the complex layers and sources of your conflict, so you are not only set free from it, but you can also learn and grow from it.

Conflict is Growth. When you work with me, we delve into the conflict that everyone has been avoiding. Although conflict is uncomfortable, even physically so, it serves us by creating hard trials that teach us who we are and what we are made of.

You will feel relief from the stress, see clarity amidst the chaos, and find meaning in the conflict.

An objective ear for the

unspeakable

Even to trained mental health professionals, there are some topics we dare not speak. Whatever feels too irreverent, unforgivable, too crazy or unimaginable say out loud, too shameful or embarrassing – everything that has remained unspoken and repressed – this is what we address.

Rather than keep that wisdom stifled, I approach these unspeakable topics as the spaces which hold your strength and deepest potential for growth. You get a larger variety of perspective and solutions.

Compromise breeds resentment

Conventional approaches ultimately encourage couples to consider their problems through conventional methods and find solutions within conventional frameworks. I approach things differently.

Rather than limiting the expression of what conflict is allowed to be within a couple, I work to unearth the depths of unspoken emotions, ideas, underlying tensions, and triggers.

Containing & controlling

conflict keeps you stuck

Conventional approaches stifle conflict by controlling emotions and silencing honest opinion. This only serves to dilute an individual’s passion and drive. It also teaches groups how to avoid difficult issues and say what is acceptable to say, rather than what is actually happening. I take the opposite approach of convention.

Rather than repressing or managing conflict, I go deeper. My techniques elicit rough edges, underlying aggression, and hidden opposition to move you forward in a real way.

How We Will Work Together

There is no single tool or best practice, and what you need from the situation is different than what someone else would need. I help you look at your conflict from mental, emotional, and spiritual angles you never considered.

I use adapted cross-cultural methods to assess stressful situations, what seems like unresolvable conflict. My Methodology is based on my unique combination of cognitive, emotional, and instinctive intelligence, so you have broader access to a range of answers and solutions.

A single session might include practices from western law enforcement (tactical negotiation), theater-based techniques (kinetic learning), or ancient India (infused spirituality).

Making a plan specific to you is crucial because you are unique, your sources of conflict are unique, and your path to peace and success is unique.

To play, press and hold the enter key. To stop, release the enter key.
